Earn Your Degree While You Train

More Career Options

An Associate’s Degree can support future opportunities in leadership, project management, estimating, training, and other advanced roles within the Sheet Metal Industry.

The Toledo Area Sheet Metal JATC maintains a partnership with our local community college, allowing TASM JATC apprentices to earn college credits toward an Associate’s Degree in Technical Studies.

TASM JATC apprentices are registered with Owens Community College, which oversees the credentialing process. Throughout the four-year apprenticeship, apprentices earn academic credits that can be applied toward an Associate Degree, enabling them to graduate with both an Associate Degree in Technical Studies and a Journeyperson’s license upon completion of the program.

How the Program Works

Owens Community College has agreed to award 49 academic credits toward an Associate’s Degree to students who complete the JATC Apprenticeship Program, at no additional cost to the apprentice. TASM JATC apprentices may schedule a meeting with an academic advisor at any time to complete a comprehensive degree audit. Based on this review, the student may be required to complete additional general education coursework, with any associated costs being the responsibility of the student.
